The Space In Between” examines the challenges, intimacy, and societal repercussions of distance. Since the pandemic, social distancing has expanded and caused significant impacts on our culture, including shifting the ways we work and communicate. Yet, forced distance and separation are not new, especially in African Diaspora cultures. With collaborators Andreina Maldonado (performance) and Leslie Foster (video), Cherie Hill explores how one reconciles historical and contemporary distance through dance and video art.
